Marine Villa is at the south end of Newcastle's wonderful seaside promenade , Royal County Down Golf Club (RCDGC)  is at the north end and in between is  Newcastle's main street with its many colourful shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes.

The first 3 holes on the RCDGC are  a Par 5, 4 and 4 , they are long and take you the furtherest you will be from the club house, actually maybe you are a bit further away on the 15th tee, they run parallel with the shore, the fairways lie between and run over giant sand dunes. Depending on the wind your ball landing on the beach is a distinct possibility of the 1st and 3rd tee but it is that wind more so than on the remaining 15   that sets the character of these 3 opening holes, they will test your skills, may be your water and "sand" proofs. Be prepared , for a lot of  fun! By the way after 9 holes you will be back at the club house and pro shop incase some extra balls are needed (or is that against the rules? - think it might be actually but its not like you are playing in the Open)

We want you to get the most out of your visit to the mighty RCDGC. To do that Marine Villa will be configured for golfing, the second reception room will be set up as a drying room, there will as always be plenty of hot water and clean fresh towels and Marine Villa is within easy walking distance to pubs and restaurants.

The Green Fees are much much cheaper in the winter, the course is built over sand dunes, its one of the best in the World, I can't remember ever a temporary green or tee so all you have to contend with is the weather and as the saying goes with the right equipment there is no such thing as bad weather ( yeah right)

So a handy link for you:
